Caring for Skin in Cold Climates

Caring for Skin in Cold Climates

Here comes pumpkin spice and banana bread weather, and if you live in a cold climate, that means snow flurries and winter winds. While our skin is less prone to dry out in humid, summer months, winter can zap moisture from even the healthiest skin. To help beat winter dry-out, we’ve compiled a list of proactive steps everyone can take to protect skin and minimize dry, chapped, flaky skin.

Check the Furnace

Before the winter winds blow have your heating and air units checked thoroughly and make sure they’re in good operating condition. Of particular importance is maintaining proper air duct and ventilation system function, so fresh outside air is continuously drawn in and dry, dirty air is removed. Keep the temperature set from 68 – 70 in winter. The hotter and dryer the air, the dryer your skin. Use a humidifier to add moisture into the air.

Take Warm Showers

Nothing feels better after a great day of skiing than a long, hot shower. But hot water strips skin of natural oils leaving it rough and dry. Dermatologists recommend using warm water, showering less and for a shorter amount of time. Follow up with an all-natural moisturizer that will add moisture back into skin.

Be Mindful of Cleansers

Some body washes, soaps, shampoos and conditioners contain chemicals and animal bi-products that are just plain awful for your skin. Dermatologists say that one of the leading causes of dry, itchy, flaking and irritated skin is the soap you’re using. Using products made from all natural ingredients with moisturizing properties is one of the best things you can do for your skin. Read the labels and look for vegan, cruelty free, all natural products that support healthy skin and environment. We have created 3 cleanser formulas to support your skin type during these months. Check them out here at Truly, Teal.

Facial Oils

Use oils to penetrate deep into the skin. Oils deliver healing ingredients that already dry, chapped skin needs. Our Paired Fantasy Squalane & Vitmain E Oil is a good alternative that is the ultimate combination for total hydration and skin repair.

Moisturizers

Keep skin moisturized using natural products with gentle ingredients that will hydrate and soothe skin. Avoid moisturizers with added color and fragrance that can irritate dry skin. Fragrance based products contain alcohol which can severely dry out skin. We have created 3 moisturizers based on your skins desires to fight against these cold months!

Truly, Teal has created a skin care line with 100% all natural formulas that are clinically tested for all skin types. Truly, Teal is focused on what should be used on your face to rejuvenate and revitalize your skin, not on synthetic and harmful ingredients that actually do the opposite of what they claim. As a result, they have eliminated all artificial colors and scents in their products and focused on using only quality, natural ingredients.
